An autopsy was performed on the body of the late Janiah Johnson by resident pathologist Dr. Dora Magdariaga on Tuesday 21st February 2012.
Janiah’s death was caused by head trauma as a consequence of a motor vehicle accident. Following the autopsy, Kimo Liburd of Lodge project, the driver of motor car PA 1436 was formally arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He will be taken before a Basseterre Magistrate shortly, where he is expected to be granted bail.
The fatal accident occurred at about 7:10 pm on 19th February, along the Kim Collins Highway. The accident involved motor car P1714 driven by Boris Johnson of Parray’s Village and motor car PA1436 driven by Kimo Liburd.
According to Inspector Cromwell Henry of the Traffic Department PA1436 was travelling towards the Airport when it collided with P1714 which was travelling in the opposite direction. Both vehicles were extensively damaged. Both drivers sustained lacerations and bruises about their bodies as well as the front seat passenger of P1714, Alexia Johnson. A two year old child Joniah Johnson, who was also a passenger in P1714 sustained head and stomach injuries and died at the JNF Hospital around 11:00 pm.
Inspector Henry said investigations are still ongoing.
